He must be going insane.
Though his abilities had never failed him before, J’onn found himself sensing the presence of another Martian. He’d been sure there were no survivors, having searched far and wide across the expanse of M’arzz, and yet—
And yet, the Martian’s presence was *real* and unmistakable. It both reassured and confused J’onn at the same time. Whoever he was tracking must have heard of him at some point, the founding members of the League were far from unknown throughout the galaxy. Why hadn’t his fellow Martian sought him out? J’onn stopped himself from making any assumptions. He seemed to have forgotten his manners amidst the excitement.
Perhaps they were not on M’arzz during the events of the Imperium Invasion. The prospect of *not* being the last of his species, alone in this universe, brought the kind of comfort that J’onn hadn’t felt in a millennium— since everything had gone downhill for his kind. Ah, but it hurt to think about.
Booted feet landed on the coarse, red dirt of his home planet. He had not visited M’arzz for… a good while. J’onn always assumed there would be nothing worth coming back for, fearing hurt since the extinction— *near* extinction of his kind— but the presence of his fellow Martian gave him the courage he needed.
It was as beautiful, and empty, as he had recalled. J’onn took a moment to gaze upon the scenery; humanoid hand scooping up rough rocks as he knelt down. He considered taking on his natural form for a moment when he felt the movement of something… *someone,* from behind.
“Hello?” He called, cape flowing along a sudden and weak gust of wind as he turned to face the figure. The *Martian.*
“My name is J’onn J’onzz. Come out; do not be afraid.”
