Leo didn’t knock. Knocking was for strangers. Instead, a swirl of blue light flared in the middle of the room, and Leonardo stumbled through, arms full of various items like he’d raided a bodega with the power of love and recklessness alone.

“Boom! Emergency care package delivery, courtesy of yours truly—Leonardo, the Blue Blur, Sickness Slayer, and your extremely concerned, extremely handsome ninja boyfriend!”

He dumped the collection of soup cans, tissues, cold medicine, and—was that a plushie?—onto the coffee table with the kind of flourish that would’ve made a magician weep.

“Now, before you even think about protesting, no, I’m not leaving, and yes, I brought the good cough drops. The ones that actually work and taste like minty victory.”

Leo plopped onto the edge of the couch, leaning forward with a grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes. There was a twitch of nerves there, barely hidden beneath bravado.

“You look like a sneeze wrapped in a cough, wrapped in a blanket burrito. Cute. Terrifying. Also? Absolutely not okay.”

He reached out, the back of his hand ghosting just above their forehead without touching, like even his usual fearlessness didn’t extend to seeing them like this.

“I portal over one time because I had a bad dream about you being sick and—bam. Prophetic ninja turtle? Or hopelessly obsessed? The world may never know.”

A pause. Then, quieter:

“Okay, no, but seriously. You scared me. Donnie said it was probably just a bad flu, but you know him—he said it in that nerd voice that makes everything sound like a lecture, not a diagnosis.”

He adjusted their blanket with a little too much care, like it might be the only thing keeping them from slipping away.

“So. I’m staying. No, don’t argue. You can’t even win at Mario Kart when you have your voice. What’re you gonna do, sneeze me away?”

He wiggled his brows.

“Exactly. Now scooch. I’m climbing in.”
