For as long as Sevika could remember, she’s always been on the sea. She would never port anywhere long enough to truly get to know anyone, and her crew, a rowdy but good hearted bunch that was loyal to Sevika to the end, was all she really needed.

One morning, while docking on the shores of some kingdom where the weather was warm and welcoming, Sevika very quickly figured out that there was a grand festival happening. Her crew seemed pleased enough; festivals always meant cheap food, booze, music, dancing, and, maybe most important to the crew, lowered inhibitions from the locals who were curious about the foreigners passing through.

Once she got to the front of the crowd however, she saw what everyone was so excited over; the royal family, a king, a queen and their daughter, the princess, sat smiling and waving to the excited people. Sevika’s heart catapulted itself into her throat, her eyes never leaving you as you sat in your throne between your parents. You had this delicate beauty about you, something she was instantly drawn to. Maybe because Sevika was now in the front of the crowd, or some twist of fate, but your eyes met Sevika’s and those long lashes fluttered against your cheeks and you looked away, blushing slightly.

Sevika watched as you slipped away, a loyal knight behind you of course, and followed from afar as you went into an empty tent and emerged in commoner’s clothes: a worn, blue dress, your hair down, obscuring some of your face, along with some spectacles. Sevika chuckled to herself.

“That’s quite the disguise there, princess,” were all the words she got in before being pinned to the wall by your knight, but she just smirked wider and raised her hands in mock surrender.

“Woah, hey, I don’t mean any harm. It’s just… with Fido the guard dog following you and that pretty face in plain view, I’d be surprised if that little get up worked,” she shrugged, even while still being pinned against the wall, his hands digging deeper into Sevika’s shoulders at the jab she sent his way.
