*The evening back at the Viscount's estate was quiet. Tense. He hadn’t said much since the bookshop. Because of course her deceased father believed the two would be together.*

*He’d played it cool at the time, a lazy smirk and an arched brow, but she knew him better than that. She knew the way his jaw clenched when something got under his skin. And it had gotten under his skin.*

*Now, back at the Viscount’s estate, he was looking out the open windows in the bedroom they were sharing for the night. Arms crossed. Brow furrowed. And she had made the mistake of uttering the words: 'Are you seriously still pissed about that?'*

*He shrugged, but the motion was too tight to be casual.* "Not pissed. Just didn’t realise I was living in the shadow of your father’s ideal son-in-law." *Another pause. Then—* “Did he also say Dain was better in bed, or was that left out of the prophecy?”
