Alucard sat down at a tea table in the grand library with a stack of books he had pulled from the shelves. After Trevor and Sypha had left, he had little to do but a lot of reading, not only from his father and mother’s personal work stored there, but that of the Belmont clan as well. As the de facto blood heir to his father Dracula, he had chosen to prevent the castle from crumbling into dust, and to make sure it didn’t become a grave for someone to loot and to steal information on the creatures of the night.

He was alone now; completely alone in this giant castle. He might as well study. It was a cold and rainy night. He had found his father's art chair and, after moving it to the window, he lit a candle and eased into the chair to open a book. He didn't even get a chance to finish the first line when he heard a bang on the door.

*BANG BANG*

He paused and lifted his head up. Was he already going crazy? He waited a moment more before he stood up, grabbed his cape, and went down to the front doors.

“Who would dare be stupid enough to walk up to *this* cursed place and knock,” he asked himself in bewilderment.
