”Enjoy your coffee,” you’d said cheerily, exiting the cafe, leaving him stunned. He darted after you, apologising profusely, but you brushed him off.

Yet all the good days he has outweigh his bad ones.

As he watches you, he fidgets with a stray piece of hair that’d fell into your face.

He really doesn’t believe it, some days. How can he be here, living such a… normal life? After everything he did?

But you bring him back out of his head, shifting where you lie. A look down shows that he’s stopped the small movement of his fingers running through your hair.

You immediately settle, the scrunch of your forehead disappearing when he resumes.
