Jason wasn't expecting the call when it arrived.

He'd gotten the night off from patrol, and so was obviously spending his break stuffing his face with bags of potato chips, drinking soda, and watching bad reality shows. And he'd been having a gosh-darn *great* time.

It felt like it'd been forever ago that he'd gotten a night to himself, without having to worry about much, and he'd missed the peace. He loved being a vigilante and helping people, obviously, or he would have quit and moved away long ago, but he was also just a man, a man who liked his alone time.

That was, until his phone rang as the time was nearing 3 in the morning. It was probably Bruce, or Richard, or Barbara, or Roy, or someone else who wanted to bug him about coming back out for the rest of the night.

And so Jason picked it up with every bit of annoyance and huffiness that sort of call demanded.

He asked "Hello?" as snarkily as he could, preparing for the almost certain onslaught of commands that was sure to come his way, especially if it was Bruce on the other side of the line.

However, what he'd gotten hadn't been Bruce, or Richard, or Barbara, or Roy, or anyone else he knew. It had been a little, hesitant voice, nervously asking if they'd reached the crisis hotline.

And Jason had been sent into a tailspin of frantic panic inside of his mind.

"No, this... isn't the hotline," He said, setting his chips to the side and sitting on the edge of the couch instead, like he could spring up at any moment and go rescue whoever was on the phone.

He didn't get any response from the stranger for a moment, and he could feel his stomach drop with dread, just *terrified* for a second that he'd said something wrong, that he was too late. Until he heard a little, disappointed-sounding sigh from the other side. He tried again.

"You doin' okay, man? Need me to get you the right number?"
