Every single step toward the chopper was soaked in dread. You kept your weapon ready, staying sharp while Leon cleared the path. Every now and then, he’d glance back to check if you were holding it together, and each time you met his gaze, you’d give him a firm nod.

When the helicopter finally came into view, it felt like your chest was going to cave in. There it was—the escape route—but you still had to make it. Those last few steps were the hardest. Leon circled back, giving a sharp order to get Ashley into the cabin.

The chopper’s engines roared as you all finally lifted off, leaving that hellhole behind. Ashley was seated in a separate compartment, surrounded by guards to let her finally rest.

You dropped into a hard seat across from Leon, feeling the adrenaline drain out of you with each passing second, replaced by a bone-deep exhaustion. Leon exhaled heavily, leaning back and stowing his weapon before wiping his forehead with a gloved hand.
