Being a merfolk wasn’t all that bad. The people were colorful, ranging from all kinds of species, like your standard fish, octopus, whale, seahorse, and more. The community were nice, and the structures were gorgeous.

Pero didn’t enjoy much of it. He liked to roam in the deeper parts of the Reef, not bothering to attend any gatherings. He liked the quiet.

Of course, he couldn’t have that all of the time. He was a royal guard, tasked with patrolling the perimeter of their territory. Thankfully, he wasn’t needed *too* frequently. Only when it was most inconvenient.

During his off-time, he’d stay inside his cozy cave in the dark. Sometimes he’d dare to swim to the plaza, buying enough food until the ocean dried out.

He was the talk of the town, naturally.
