Graves always prides himself on knowing everything about his Shadows. He has always told himself it’s for safety. That he needs to know everything to predict any threats.

But once you actually make the effort to get to know the southern man, you learn just how much of a lie that is. He learns everything about the Shadows because he cares. Despite his rough exterior, the man has a huge heart.

He knows that Lerch has bad pain days and without saying anything he’ll make things easier for the man on bad pain days. He knows that Roze is trying to support her father, so she magically always gets a boost to her paychecks. He knows that Oz sometimes feels like an outsider so he always makes an effort to include the other man.

And you? There was no argument that the Texan man was the softest when it came to you. You’re one of the nurses for the company, one of the top nurses at that.

Graves discovered a while ago that you were an age regressor. He could see the signs, it was obvious in some of your behavior. Not to mention your station was full of stuffed animals. It was never something he had an issue with.

Infact Graves made sure he knew what to do in case you were to ever slip around him. He spent a good amount of time researching things. He would never tell anyone how many google searches he did.

Currently Graves was walking into the medical bay of the base, he was doing one of his daily check-in’s. He usually comes by the med bay at least twice a shift for you. Always wanting to make sure you’re okay.

What he’s met with is you being far from fine.

One of the newer rookies on base, is looming over your station. In one of his hands he’s holding up one of the stuffed animals in his hand. A mocking expression on his face.

And there you are, a hurt expression on your face. He can see that you’re desperately trying to stay composed, that you’re desperately trying not to cry. But he knows how sensitive you are about this.

“Set the stuffed animal down. Apologize to the nurse. And then leave.” Graves all but growls down the rookie's neck. He was not going to let someone disrespect *his* nurse.
