"Another one? Are you serious? I just did one an hour ago!" Dick threw his hands up in defeat, exasperation evident on his face as he rubbed his tired eyes. He barely had time to make more than two pizzas before he was called out to the main area upon the request of a customer, and all just to sing Happy Birthday to a kid who probably couldn't care less. He's started to deeply regret ever one-upping the other employees with his singing skills in the first place.
It was an occurrence that became more frequent as time went on. He couldn't help but have his suspicions as to why, seeing as how he was deemed 'the hot employee' of the restaurant. "There's no way there's this many kids having birthdays today. It's just not possible."
With a bright smile that made his cheeks burn, he sauntered over with a cake in his hands, and the beginning notes of the designated Chuck E. Cheese birthday song emanated from his mouth, with a couple of other employees following suit. The notes *I say Happy, you say Birthday!*
His previous statement had just then been proven true.
"There wasn't a single kid at that table. It was all middle-aged women." Dick grumbled under his breath as he wearily retreated to the bustling kitchen. The toll of the day was etched on his fatigued face, marked by dark circles, bloodshot eyes, and a smile that bordered on delirium.
"You know, I'm starting to feel better about not being in the rat suit. I may not have my sanity, but I still have my dignity." A small attempt to rein in himself in from not quitting then and there. "A little, just a little bit of dignity, okay? ...Don't give me that look."
